I started my career in the translation industry in 2007 when the third largest translation company TransPerfect offered me a job as Localisation Project Manager in their Barcelona office. I came to this beautiful city a few years before and had worked on the start-up of BCN WEEK (now BCN MES), a weekly cultural newspaper about the Catalan capital.

Apart from my love for the Dutch language, to be fair, TransPerfect taught me everything I know about localisation. From time management to sharpening my eye for detail, from CAT tools to revenue: We all had to perform at a very high professional level in an international environment working for high-end clients.

After 3 years in the company I felt it was time for more responsibility and flexibility. I wanted to have the feeling I could work from anywhere in the world. I started my own company in translation- editing.

In 2011 I turned my life around and moved back to my home country. Sure, I thought about getting myself and my laptop to a tropical island, music capital of the world London, or Berlin to polish up my German. But I picked beautiful Amsterdam and what a joy to hear and read Dutch again everywhere, to be able to use expressions that are exactly on point and play with words.

Often people tell me they admire me for building a life for myself abroad and then after 6 years having to do the same again here in the Netherlands. But I believe if you really want something, you can do it: Edit Life!
